What Is MLD?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a specialized, gentle massage technique designed to support your body's lymphatic system, the network responsible for clearing excess fluid, waste, and toxins from your tissues. Using light, rhythmic strokes (much gentler than a traditional massage), our certified therapists encourage lymph flow toward healthy drainage pathways, helping reduce swelling, ease discomfort, and support your body's natural healing and immune response.

We have 10+ Licensed Massage Therapists certified in MLD, which means consistent, expert care and the flexibility to get you scheduled when you need it - often within the same week.

Who Is MLD Good For?

MLD supports two distinct groups of clients: those recovering from surgery, and those managing ongoing wellness needs.

Post-Op Recovery If you've recently had a procedure, MLD can be one of the most valuable things you do for your recovery:

  • Cosmetic & elective surgery (liposuction, BBL, tummy tuck, breast augmentation or reconstruction, facelift, and more)

  • Cancer surgery & cancer related treatments (mastectomy, lumpectomy, lymph node removal/dissection, post radiation and more)

  • General & orthopedic surgery (joint replacement, hernia repair, hysterectomy, and similar procedures)

Lymphatic Wellness You don't need to be recovering from surgery to benefit. We also see clients for:

  • Prenatal support (2nd & 3rd trimester swelling relief)

  • Postnatal recovery

  • Cancer support during non-surgical treatment

  • Autoimmune conditions and chronic inflammation

  • General wellness — many clients simply feel lighter, clearer, and more energized

What to Expect During Your Session

MLD feels different from a typical massage. The pressure is light and the pace is slow and rhythmic, working with your body rather than against it. Most clients find it deeply relaxing. Your therapist will talk with you beforehand about your specific history, any recent procedures, and your goals, so your session can be tailored to your needs.

When Should You Consult a Medical Professional First?

MLD is safe for most people, but we want you to feel confident and informed before booking. Please check with your doctor, surgeon, or oncologist first if any of the following apply to you:

  • You've had recent surgery and have not yet been cleared for massage by your surgeon (most surgeons clear patients for MLD within the first few days post-op, but timing varies by procedure)

  • You have an active infection, fever, or are acutely ill

  • You have a current or suspected blood clot (DVT) or history of clotting disorders

  • You have congestive heart failure, kidney failure, or another condition affecting fluid regulation

  • You are undergoing active cancer treatment and haven't yet discussed massage therapy with your oncology team

If you're unsure whether MLD is appropriate for your situation, we're glad to talk it through with you, and we're always happy to coordinate directly with your care team to make sure your sessions support (not complicate) your treatment plan.
