Frequently asked questions.

WHAT TO EXPECT FOR YOUR FIRST MASSAGE:

When you arrive you will be greeted by our receptionists in our boutique/reception area. As a new client of ours, we will have you fill out a quick intake form that gives your therapist an insight to your medical history, stress level and what you want to get from your massage.

At the time of your treatment, you will then be greeted by your massage therapist and walked to your room, located in one of our 5 sections in Dudley Square. They will do a quick verbal intake where they will go over the type of massage you are receiving, what you would like to get out of the treatment as well as if there were any specific areas you would like focused on. This would also be the time where you will let your therapist know of any areas you would like the therapist to avoid. Sometimes during this intake, the therapist may suggest a different treatment that aligns better with what you are wanting than the treatment you originally booked. They will also ask if you would like to incorporate one of our complimentary aromatherapy oils: lemon, lavender, eucalyptus, and peppermint.

Next, the therapist will tell you if you need to be face up or face down for the start of the massage. They will then leave the room. At this point you will undress to your comfort level and get under the first two layers of cover with the other sheet under you. You may completely undress, or leave on undergarments and that is perfectly okay. Our goal is for you to be as relaxed and comfortable as possible.

The therapist will knock before re-entering the room to make sure you are ready to begin. During your session, the majority of your body will be covered by the sheets. The area being worked on will be uncovered. Our therapists are trained to drape the sheets in a way that allows them to work on areas while maintaining your modesty. If you are asked to turn over, they will hold the sheets up in a way that keeps you covered.

People have different levels of comfort and relaxation during a massage. Some prefer a quiet session while others prefer some conversation. The massage is all about what you want, therefore do not hesitate to speak up about what you want. Therapists will check in periodically to make sure the pressure is just right, if you need more pressure or less pressure.

Once your massage treatment time is up your therapist will leave the room so that you can get up and get dressed. When you come out of the room your therapist will check in about how the massage is, they often offer up suggestions of what you can do at home to further help. They will then accompany you back to the front desk where you will check out and schedule your next appointment. Ideally you would be able to receive massage weekly but to maintain progress and maximize massage benefits we recommend receiving massage every 4 weeks.

Iā€™M PREGNANT, CAN I GET A MASSAGE?

If you are in your 2nd or 3rd trimester, and your OBGYN or midwife has not given you any contra-indications, we are happy to book you for a 60 or 90 minute prenatal massage.
